The Thorkyn and Thryllak are a species of monsters. These enemies, resembling Porcupinefish, are palette swaps of each other, with varying levels of strength and are fought in different locations in the game. All of the variants in this monster line are blue-element.

Thorkyn[]

Thorkyn

The Thorkyn is a variant with a green head and red body. They can use the following abilities:

  • Attack
  • Gather Strength: The user ability warns players that the Thorkyn will be using Needle Storm on the next turn.
  • Needle Storm: The user shoots out several needles that impale a single party member for heavy damage.

When defeated, Thorkyn yields 26 EXP, 30 Gold, and have a 3% chance of dropping a Throkryn's Scale. They are fought in the airspace around Sailor's Island.

While not the most durable enemy around Sailor's Island, Thorkyn has the highest attack rating among them. Coupled with a powerful attack, this monster could pose a threat to your party if it is not killed quickly enough.

Thryllak[]

Thryllak

The Thryllak is a variant with a violet head and purple body. They can use the following abilities:

  • Attack
  • Gather Strength: The user ability warns players that the Thryllak will be using Needle Storm on the next turn.
  • Needle Storm: The user shoots out several needles that impale a single party member for heavy damage.

When defeated, Thryllak yields 262 EXP, 91 Gold, and have a 2% chance of dropping a Thryllak's Scale. They are fought in and around the Valuan airspace regions, sometimes around the edge of the Valuan continent out into the Frontier Lands regions.

Most of the Thryllak's stats are the second highest among its peers, being outclassed either by the Razorbeak or the Scorpon. Just like their predecessors, these monsters should be disposed of quickly before they get the chance to fire off Needle Storm, which could be lethal to weaker party members.
