The Guard, Patrol Guard, and Mine Patrol are classes of lightly armored Valuan soldiers that are armed with a baton. These enemies are palette swaps of each other, with varying levels of strength, and are fought in different locations in the game. All of the variants in this monster line are Yellow-affiliated.

GuardEdit

A Guard (航行士 Koukoushi) is a variant with turquoise.

In-battle, the Guard only have one battle command:

  • Attack: A standard physical attack.

When defeated, Guards yield 1 EXP, 3 Gold and have a 6% chance of dropping a Sacri Crystal. Four Guards are fought in a scripted encounter at the begining of the game. They are subsequently fought throughout the Valuan Battleship as random encounters along with Soldiers.

The guards are slightly faster than the Soldier, but have half as much HP. A single attack is enough to take them out.

Patrol GuardEdit

A Patrol Guard (警備士 Keibishi) is a variant with yellow and red armor.

In-battle, a Patrol Guard can use the following battle commands:

When defeated, Patrol Guards yield 50 EXP, 92 Gold and have a 10% chance of dropping a Sacres Crystal. Only six Patrol Guards are fought in the game; three groups of two attack Vyse and Aika on the Upper City trains prior to the battle with the Royal Guards.

Patrol Guards are a bit stronger than most of the enemies previously fought in the catacombs, but still shouldn't pose a threat, especially since they spend more time using Quika and Sacres crystals than they do attacking you. They're mostly designed to wear you down for the upcoming boss battle.

Mine PatrolEdit

A Mine Patrol (採掘士 Saikutsushi) is a variant with greyish blue armor.

In-battle, a Mine Patrol can use the following battle commands:

When defeated, Mine Patrols yield 167 EXP, 100 Gold, and have a 3% chance of dropping a Glyph of Might. They are randomly fought throughout Moonstone Mountain, where they often accompany Diggers. A group of four also serve as a scripted encounter outside the cell containing the Ixa'takan priest Isapa. Mine Patrols are the only Guard variant that can be fought at end-game.

The Mine Patrol is relatively fast and has the second highest attack rating (tied with Luchich), but not as durable as the Diggers they often fight alongside.
